Peter Ndlouv: Keeping the Nigerian Connection busy

Fun with Peter
Keeping the Nigeria Connection busy ...

It all started with this mail, I received on the 10th of July, 2004:

Director/Ceo

INVESTMENT INQUIRY

I am Mr. Peter Ndlovu, a Zimbabwe and the son of Chief Edward Ndlovu, a known farmer and the High Chief of Bulawayo Town in Zimbabwe. I write on behalf of the Ndlovu's family, to inquire if you are avaliable and have the facility to assist us undertake some capital investment in your country.

It will be necessary to inform you that the funds of US$15M (Fifteen Million United State Dollars)intended for capitalization of the investments are presently in the custody of a Private Security Company here in Johannesburg-South Africa, which we require to transfer our of South Africa immediately for the said investment purpose.

You may have heard of the present crisis in Zimbabwe orchestrated by the umprecedent "Land Use Act" fo the government has arbitrarily reclaimed and acquire all farmlands owned by the white farmers in the country. This has caused a historical displacement of the white folks who are known to be the country's main farmers. The ensuing struggle and strive have brought about the killing and improsonment of thousands of these white farm owners by the ruthless government forces designated to enforce this new order.

My father, in his goodwill and capacity as the High Chief of Bulawayo Town, joined the international community in condenming and speaking out against this uncivilised and bizarre policy of Robert Mugabe's government. As a result of my father's farm and upright position on this matter, a group of assailants suspected to be government sympathizers attached and killed my father in cold blood in March last year. Seeing that the entire Ndlovus's family was in serious threat fo extiction, we immediately fled from Zimbabwe to South Africa, where we have sojourned ever since.

Prior however,to my father's untimely death, he had, sensing the rising hostilities of the goverment of Robert Mugabe, sold all his farmlands including those of this white farmers associated who had transferred ownership of their farmlands to my father's name to forestall the government acquring them. Unfortunately, these white farmers associates of my father have also been assassinated in the crisis. My father secretly send the proceeds of US$15M (Fifteen Million United State Dollars) form sales of the farmlands to South Africa,a neighbouring sister country and he deposited this funds in a metal box witha Private Security Company in South Africa.

The content of the metal box was declared as "family valuables" to the Security Company. The ownership of this "depository" is now transferred to me by title, following my father's death.

Having seen contace information in my father's private study, we now contact you for immediate assistance in lifting the funds out of South Africa for the said investment. It will interest you to note that we have all this while articulated the needful arrangements through which the transfer will be effected. We will be willing to come to terms with you regarding your rewards for helping us actualize this matter which we are to offer you 20% of the total money, 5% will be for the expense we may incur during this transaction meanwhile the 75% will be for Ndlovu's family. It is equal important to state here that considering the nature of this matter, we will require you to keep it secret and confidential. Kindly contact me by using the above details upon receipt of this letter for execution details and other necessary discussion. In anticipation of your trusted and genuine assistance I remain.

Yours sincerely,
MR PETER NDLOVU

Naturally, injustice and tragic fate like that brake my heart and I will do everything in my power to help! It's not for the money, it's to HELP people!
Therefore I answer right away:

Hello Mister Ndlovu,

this sounds very promising and I would like to help.
What do you want me to do ??

Regards
Steve

Later that same day - an answer already. He is so happy he has found an honest soul to help him, he even forgets his own name!

From this mail on, he will no longer be Peter "NDLOVU" but "NDLOUV" instead!

Also from this mail on he is starting a most annoying practice: Writing everything in caps and sending every mail twice. I'll try to fix this later on ...

Oh my god, so many questions! And a possible trip to South Africa!! I am so excited !!

I answer some of the questions, but ingnore some others. Just to see what happens.

Of course I did not call him, but to show my interest I let him know I "tried". Contrary to the first mail, this one comes from an address with the name "Jocelyn Robinson" and I would like to know who that is.

I also told him about a coming business trip so I would have an excuse when it would come to travel to South Africa later on.

Hello,

I can assure you that confidentiality and transfering the money to my account will not be a problem at all.
I am the only signator for the account and there will be no tax unless the money will be on the account for more than one year.

If I may be able to come to South Africa will largely depend if I will have business responsibilities on the exact time. Why would I need to come to SA anyway ??

I just tried to call you but without success. Please get back to me soon with the details as I will go on a short business trip by Monday.

By the way, who is "Jocelyn Robinson", I thought your name was Peter Ndlouv?? Please clarify !!!

Regards
Steve

P.S.: I trust this case is honest and you are not making fun of me or anything ??
Back again the next day. Loses no time this dude!

STEVE LOVELL.

FIRST,THANKS FOR YOUR MAIL AND AT THE SAME TIME, THIS IS REAL AND NOT TO MAKE FUN OF YOU. AGAIN, JOCELYN ROBINSON IS JUST THE COMBINATION OF MY MOTHER AND ME. MY OTHER NAME IS ROBINSON. HOPE YOU ARE CLEARED.

YOUR ANSWERS WERE NOT COMPLETE SO I WILL REFER YOU BACK TO MY LAST EMAIL. WHAT IS YOUR NUMBER, LET ME CALL YOU BECAUSE LIKE YOU SAID THAT YOU TRIED CALLING ME BUT FAILED. THIS TIME AROUND TRY ONCE MORE ON 27-73-63-72-710. I SECURED THIS YESTERDAY.

I HAVE NOT FINISHED THE MEETING WITH THE BANKER. I WILL CONCLUDE TOMORROW MORNING THEN I CAN GIVE YOU THE INFORMATIONS WHAT YOU ARE NEEDED TO DO. BUT BEFORE THEN, SEND BY MAIL YOUR PASSPORT COPY, FULL ADDRESS AND THE ACCOUNT YOU WANT TO RECEIVE WITH. THESE DOCUMENTS WILL ENABLE ME TO DO THE CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP AT THE SECURITY COMPANY TO PUT YOU IN AS THE RIGHTFUL BENEFICARY OF THE FUNDS BEFORE THE TRANSFER.

ON YOU COMING, I WILL KNOW BY TOMORROW TOO. YOUR TRIP, HOW LONG DO YOU THINK IT WILL LAST? YOU CAN GO FOR YOUR TRIP.

AS SOON AS I GET YOUR CONTACT NUMBERS, I WILL GIVE YOU A CALL BUT CALL ME TO CONFIRM YOU RECEIVED THIS MAIL.

REGARDS,

MR PETER NDLOUV.

NEW NUMBER 27-73-63-72-710.

Allright, he really wants his answers. Unfortunately I am still not willing to give him my phone number or my address. These people have been know to start threatening you if you don't play it their way. And I can't have them knocking on my door.
The "business trip" comes in handy. It will keep him from calling me while I am away, so I keep from telling him anything personal. Instead, I turn the tables and ask things of him. Why should I be the first one to send my passport anyway. And I am sure he has a fake-ID ready to send.

It's my first try to stop that annoying all capital-writing.

Hello again,

I am in a bit of a hurry right now. I am packing for the trip and I have to meet a colleague as well. Will hopefully be back by Friday or Saturday latest.

I am not happy with sending my passport and account number to somebody I don't even know. Please confirm your own identity first by sending a copy of your passport by mail as well as some proof of the funds to be transfered.
It's not that I don't trust you but it would make me feel better.

Also, why do you always write in capital letters and why do you send every email two times ???

Write me of the talk with the bank and when you know the date for the trip.

I will try to call you from my trip if I find time. Maybe Tuesday or Wednesday.

Regards
Steve

While I am "away" he takes some time off as well.

I had told him I would be back by Thursday or Friday latest. So Thursday, July 15th, his next mail arrives. And he is even concerned about my well-being. How sweet ist that!

STEVE LOVELL.

I RECEIVED YOUR MAIL AND I BELIEVE IN GODS NAME THAT YOU ARRIVED SAFELY WITH YOUR FRIEND.
WELL, YOU NEED MY PASSPORT AND DEPOSITORY AGREEMENT WITH THE SECURITY COMPANY. NO PROBLEM ABOUT THAT BUT YOU HAVE NOT GIVEN ME THE FAX NUMBER WHICH I WILL FAX TO.
SECONDLY,ONE IMPORTANT THING YOU SHOULD HAVE AT THE BACK OF YOUR MIND IS THAT, IN THIS TRASACTIONS,THERE MUST BE TRUST. I TOLD YOU OF YOUR PASSPORT DOES NOT I MEAN ANYTHING. PLEASE NOTE THAT IT WILL BE JUST FOR THE DOCUMENTATIONS HERE TO MAKE EVERYTHING LEGAL WISE.

IF YOU CAN GIVE ME YOUR PRIVATE NUMBERS BOTH PHONE, I WILL IMMEDIATELY SEND THE DOCUMENTS TO YOU.
GOD BLESS YOU AND HAVE A GOOD STAY WHERE YOU ARE NOW.

REGARDS.
MR PETER NDLOUV.

I don't feel like writing back all weekend. I also have to think of how to get around giving him my phone number and address. Finally on Monday, July 19, I write him again.

I have to keep him busy, so why not gather a couple of nice pictures for me?

The faxmachine-story should be plausible. Still no idea what to do with the phone number though.
Hello Mr. Ndlouv,

I arrived safely back from my trip but could not answer you until now. Sorry for the delay ...

Well, I was expecting you to have sent your passport by E-Mail. I don't have a faxmachine at home and I think it would not be a good idea to send it to the office. I am very often out of the office and we do not want others to know about this. Do we ??

So please, just scan your passport along with the depository agreement and you'll be fine. I am happy to hear that you understand me and will do so asap.

Once again - please stop writing in all caps and sending every E-Mail twice !!!

Regards
Steve

P.S.: This is just a personal note. But as I will be traveling to your country pretty soon, maybe you could send me one or two pictures of how it looks like there (by E-Mail, along with the other stuff) ??
I received no answer to this until July 22th, so I sent the mail again with this addition:

Hello Mr. Ndlouv,
I did not hear from you since my mail below from monday and I am a little worried.
Please get back to me with the documents and a possible date for the trip to SA.
Steve

That helped. Only a few hours later, the answer was in my inbox. We are starting to get a littly grumpy, aren we?

DEAR STEVE LOVELL.

SIR .
GREETINGS IN JESUS NAME.

UPTILL NOW,WE HAVE BEEN FINDING IT SO DIFFCULT TO SEND THE DOCUMENTS BECAUSE WE DONT HAVE A SCANNER TO SCAN THEM.WE CAN ONLY SEND THEM BY FAX.IF YOU WANT US TO SEND THEM TO YOU,YOU GET A FAX NUMBER AND MOREOVER YOU SHOULD SEND YOUR CONTACT NUMBERS,YOUR PASSPORT COPIES ,FULL ADDRESS AND ACCOUNT FOR RECEIVING THE MONEY.

STEVE LOVELL,THERE MUST BE TRUST.I DONT KNOW WHY YOU ARE MAKING THIS LOOK VERY DIFFCULT FOR US.THIS MONEY IS REAL AND WE ARE TRUSTING YOU,THAT IS WHY WE CONTACTED YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE.IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN MORE,PLEASE TELL US.

CALL ME ON 27-73-63-72-710 VERY IMPORTANT.
REGARDS.

MR PETER NDLOUV.

Hmmm, I guess the only reaction to this is no reaction at all. Let him sweat a little, think I am not any more interested. I am quite confident he won't let me out so easily now ...

Hello Mister Ndlouv, before we go on any further, let me set some things straight:

* YOU contacted ME in the first place I agreed to help you without even knowing you. I don't need the money you proposed me so desperately, because I get a very good salary at my job already.
* YOU accuse ME of not trusting you, but you do NOT A SINGLE THING for it!
* I agreed to help you out and offer you an account and other help so YOU can get your money where you want it.
* You asked ME to come to South Africa and I agreed. Would you call that trust or what ??
* You dit NOT tell me the results of you meeting with your bankers as you proposed me.
* You did NOT tell me possible dates for the trip to SA that I asked you for and you promised to deliver.
* Finally, I asked you multiple times to STOP WRITING IN CAPITAL LETTERS ALL THE TIME. And you ignored this as well.

So here is my proposal: Send your passport and ALL documents regarding the transfer to the following faxnumber ASAP !!!!

If you feel this is too much asking or if you still think that I have to trust you just because of kind words, please find somebody else to help you !!!

Here is a faxnumber you can use: country code:001 number:2063383553, you can also leave me voicemessages there if you like. I will check the voicebox regularly and get back to you.

Regards
Steve

Five days later, still no response.
Have I been to harsh?? On July 27, I decide to write a touch-up mail to se what's going on ...
Mister Ndlouv, it's five days since my last mail where I gave you my fax number to send the documents to.

You did not send them as yet or respond in any other form.

I am very disappointed that you obviously are not willing to do a single thing to make this business happen.
In the end it may as well be just a big, bad joke!

The next business trip is coming up and I have to close a big project with REAL money, no jokes.

I am sorry I can not help you any more because you failed to show the slightest cooperation!!!

Regards
Steve

This time, the answer comes right back:

THANKS FOR KNOWING ABOUT THIS.
I AM NOT INTERESTED TO DO WITH YOU. I DONT TRUST YOU ANYMORE MOREOVER YOU DONT HAVE TIME FOR US MAYBE, YOU HAVE MORE THAN THIS AMOUNT SO WE DECIDED NOT TO DISTURB YOU.
GOOD LUCK IN YOUR LIVE.
MR PETER.

Hmmm, this ends my first try in scambaiting. I wonder what went wrong, but I am sure there'll be plenty 419-mails coming to perfect my skills ;-)
